Mr. Rezső Lantos (1950–1977)

Mr. Lantos was born in 1927 in Mekényes, Hungary. He graduated in choir conducting and in organ playing at the Liszt Ferenc Academy of Music in 1950. His professors were among others Mr. Zoltán Kodály and Mr. Lajos Bárdos. In the same year he – together with Mr. Árpád Darányi – founded the choir of which he became first conductor in 1957. In the 20 years of his leadership the choir – then called KISZ Művészegyüttes Központi Kórus – had taken part in numerous festivals and international choir competitions (in Debrecen, Arezzo, the Hague, Varna, Llangollen, Tolosa etc) winning first prize on almost every occasion.
